Preschool/Children's Minister -
Cheryl Reed

Cheryl Reed accepted Lord Jesus in 5th grade at age 11.  She promptly began what would become a "life of service to children", by volunteering as a bus captain for her church.  This role expanded into teaching Sunday School classes, Visitation and telephone ministry, of course--seeing children safely to and from church (and behaving while on the bus)!

Cheryl, and her Husband Bret, came to Del Sol Church, upon returning from a three year tour of duty in Germany.  Cheryl again volunteered, working with the "Missions Friends" program for 4/5 year olds. 

Later she accepted assignment teaching Sr. High youth in 11/12 Grade.  Then in February 1995, Pastor Walter asked Cheryl to provide oversight for Del Sol's Pre-School.  At that time their son, Eric was four years old and their daughter, Savannah was 7 months.  Cheryl felt convinced this fit was so appropriate, it was from The Lord.

Two years later (1997), this role was expanded to direct all of Del Sol's Children's Ministries.  Again, the fit with their family  and the ages of their children, seemed "God Ordained and Purposed".

In this capacity, Cheryl oversees: Childrens GrowGroups; "KIDS" (Kids In Devine Service) Church; Parents Night Out (directed by Sandra Woods); AWANA's (directed by Melodie Erives); Mother's Day Out (directed by Jackie Wilson); once-a-month Volunteers (directed by Grace Taylor); and of course, Vacation Bible School and Pre-Teen Camp.

It is this particular ministry which has provided some of the greatest challenges for Cheryl's ample administrative skills.  Each Summer Del Sol's VBS program ministers to between 300--350 children and will involve a support staff of over 150 childrens workers and staff.

In addition to ministry to Children, Cheryl leads a Growgroup in their home.  In her "spare time", Cheryl said she likes to knit for relaxation.
